Car waxes and surface polishes are not all the same when it comes to protecting the exterior surfaces of your valuable marine craft, car or other vehicle.  Many different types of car waxes are available in the market and it becomes a real task to choose the right one for your vehicle or marine craft.

For almost 100 years, waxing has been the answer to protecting the luster, color and finish of your car’s exterior surfaces, but that is no longer true. Unfortunately, the problem with waxing is that it only ever offers temporary protection for your car.  While they are invisible to the human eye, paint has pores, just like your skin.  And, after a good baking under the scorching sun, solar heat closes those pores and forces out the melted wax. These waxes become warm and sticky enough to trap dust, acids and chemicals on your car's paint, exactly what they are supposed to keep away! 

Sun heated wax is easily washed off your paint, leaving it vulnerable to damage again. To protect your paint, or marine craft surface you'll need to wax it again and again.  This is a costly process in terms of time, effort and expense, and nobody wants that!  

Repeated use of similar wax-based products will produce exactly the same poor result.  Conventional car waxes are of two main types; either natural or synthetic and they are generally available in three forms namely liquids, pastes and sprays.  They are manufactured in a variety of ways with additives being included to increase the functionality of the wax product. The most common substances used in car waxes however are vegetable waxes and, more particularly, carnauba waxes which are formed from complex alcohols, hydrocarbons, and resins.  The quality of ingredients often varies markedly, and can have a direct influence on the degree of protection and ease of application.  

When applied in paste form, car waxes provide a more durable finish and clean better than spray products, but they require more effort.  For this reason, sprays and liquids tend to be more widely popular even if they are not as effective.
